Premier Community Yoga Event to be held in Arlington on October 21
For the first time, Namas Day – a celebration of yoga, wellness and local community – will come to the DMV region October 21. The all-day event, hosted by DC Area Yoga, includes indoor and outdoor yoga programs and a wellness market, and emphasizes community and local yoga resources.
“We launched Namas Day with the goal of creating community and showcasing the amazing yoga teachers, students and schools right in our own neighborhoods,” said Mary Fetterman, founder of Namas Day and MyAreaYoga.com, which DC Area Yoga is a subsidiary of.
Namas Day is a neutral, local, accessible event open to all individuals interested in yoga, whether novice or well-traveled on their yoga journey. The day includes diverse workshops (e.g., inspirational vinyasa, Yoga Sutra conversations, Pranayama, yin yoga, anatomical analysis) offered by local presenters (e.g., Mimi Rieger, Hari-kirtana das, Marni Sclaroff, HawaH, Yael Flusberg).
“We hear a lot about critically acclaimed teachers around the globe, but it is important to remember the incredible instructors we have in our own cities,” Fetterman said. “Namas Day offers the chance to meet yogis you wouldn’t normally train with, to expand your community and to appreciate the yoga opportunities available in your area. It is an inspiring day. It is impossible to leave without feeling uplifted.”
Namas Day DC will take place at George Mason University’s Arlington Campus. Ticket sales open in July. Visit NamasDay.com, and sign up for the weekly DC Area Yoga newsletter, to learn more, including how to apply to be a sponsor, exhibitor or studio partner.
